I HAVE A 27 OUTRAGE THAT I DO ALOT OF FISHING ON,I HAVE A FURUNO FCV667 FISHFINDER WHICH IS TERRIFIC FOR DEEP AND MID DEPTH. I AM LOOKING TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL FISHFINDER AND/OR DEPTHSOUNDER FOR VERY SHALLOW WATER....THE MAIN CRITERIA IS THAT SHALLOW READINGS ARE CONSISTANT AND ACCURATE, THE FCV667 DOESNT DO WELL IN THE SHALLOWS....ANY IDEAS???

I use the Furuno LS6100 in shallow water & it's outstanding.
Best part about it is, I'm pretty sure it uses the same trasducer as the unit your using now.
I'v used just about every sonar made in the 30 years I fished the Bering Sea commercially.
The LS6100 is the only one i'v ever been able to leave on automatic & get the performance it produces.
For $345.00 you will need to look a long time to match it.
I fish salmon out of San Fransico in water from 20 ft to 200 ft & it shows everything.
While fishing stripers on the Sacramento river I troll 12 ft of water mostly & it shows Sturgeon , catfish & Stripers perfect.
The key is to just learn how to run any sonar but the 6100 is so simple , just leave it on auto & believe me, you will be very surprized.
Your unit has both 200 & the 50 khz, so does the 6100 but if your using the 50 khz in shallow water, you wont get the performance compared to the 200khz in water less then 200 ft.
50 khz is for water deeper then 300 ft & the 50 is for water under 300 ft.

For future reference, the best forum area to post articles which seek information on the performance of classic Boston Whaler boats related equipment and accessories is the forum named:

Classic Whaler: Performance-- What prop, what motor, what trailer, etc., works best?

We also encourage follow up comments from participants who have received advice in the forum and who let other know what were their results.

Feel free to post a follow up article in the Performance forum and let us know how that recommended Depth Sounder actually worked out for you.
