One of the lower screws that hold the swim platform on my Montauk fell out. I put in as large a screw as the hole in the bracket will fit but it is stripped out. Whats the best way to fix the problem? Fill with epoxy and redrill? I'm sure water has gotten in there may be some rot. Is it worth it to use Git Rot?

Git Rot will melt the foam. Plug, epoxy, re-glass and drill but dont use products proclaiming to turn dry rot back into fresh wood.

Ah've had good results with this stuff: . Last purchase it at the Home Despot. Moisture in the surroundin' area does not seem to bother it or inhibit the bond. Ah've got sev'ral railing stantions bedded in the stuff. Just mix and poke as much as you can into the hole, let cure for an hour, wet-sand down to smooth, compound and polish, and give it a day to cure real well before drilling. Good luck.
