I hate to admit it but I didn't even burn a full tank of gas (28 gallons) this year. So now it's time to winterize and I'm wondering if I should change the oil and filter (Evinzuki 4-stroke), change the lower unit oil and replace the gas filter. It's always been my practice to do a full service each year but this year I'm wondering if that'a a waste. What do you think about just running out the gas, fogging the engine, and that's it.Bob M.

I'd still do the lower unit and oil change in the spring, but the gas filter could probably go another season. Fog for sure. |

I normally do all the items in the fall, that way I've got the whole winter to handle something that may crop up, like water in the lower unit, etc. And leaving a lower unit with water in it (due to a seal that's gone bad, say from a fishing line wrap) you could be inviting a rust situation. And this way, in the spring, it's throw in the battery, and hit the water! Don |

Thanks for the input. I guess I was trying to get support to get out of some work. So I'll go through the whole winterization this week just like I usually do. Maybe next year responsibilities won't get in the way and I'll be able to spend more time on the water...Bob M. |
