I HAVE A MONTAUK WITH A CENTER CONSOLE THAT I HAVE INSTALLED MY BATTERY IN. OVER TIME THE BOTTOM SHELF HAS FALLEN DOWN WERE THE CHALKS WERE FIBERGLASSED INTO THE SIDE OF THE CONSOLE. DOES ANYONE HAVE A CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE ON HOW TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT MOVING THE BATTERY? (I LIKE THE EXTRA ROOM IN THE BACK)

Gary-

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're asking, but I presume that you had placed the battery so that it was sitting on the floor (shelf, deck) of the console?

Acting on that premise, I can tell you that with the typical bouncing around a boat does, sooner or later the weight of the battery was bound to do what it did to you. The answer, once you re-attach your console floor, is to cut a rectangular hole in your console floor the size and shape of your battery box, so that it sits on the deck of the boat and is not imposing its weight on the comsole floor. Coat the raw edges of the plywood I presume your console floor to be made of, with epoxy or a good grade of marine sealant like 3M 4200, so you don't develop cancer, and you can fashion a tie-down system for your battery right to the floor of the console, even though it is sitting down on the deck.
