Anyone have any input how best to raise height on my console so this 6'4" guy does'nt get a backache while looking for fish? Just bought this classic whaler and do not want to butcher her. Thanks in advance for the help and ideas.

I suggest you buy a Montauk.

The 15 CC is a shortened Montauk console. IMHO a bad design for the 15. Too wide and too short, like my high school english teacher. I would suggest you replace the console with another brand and save the current console if you sell the boat. Sundance Skiff in Blackshear Ga makes a great console as does Carolina Skiff in Waycross GA. Also Todd sells an after market one.

Looked at the Montauk and it was too big for my tidal creek. Once I get to the river it would be fine but let's see, take to the water from my dock or go to the ramp with a Montauk and a trailer. Thanks Jim for the suggestion. Have checked the Carolina console and will look for info on the others. Thanks, Chris (By the way what is IMHO?)

Actually the 15 and 17 draw the same amount of water. 17 usually draws less than a 15 being she is more bow heavy. I have owned both on a VERY shallow canal(mud at dead low).

in the sweetspot- FEEL YOUR PAIN!! I'm 6'7" and boosting my console on a 21' outrage by six inches- not sure of the shape on yours but mine is sqaure so it will be a simple fiberglass job- I'm building a box to the size of my console with dried treated 2x6's and then giving it about three coats of fiberglass overtop and setting the console down on that and glassing them together. I'm going from 32" to 38" roughly. After I finish the fiberglass work I'll go over it with some brite white awlgrip and I will live happily ever after.

Raised mine too. Did it with aluminun L-bracket, could be done with wood too. I would take a lot to send my 15'away. Would keep it NO DOUBT.You know that there are alot of readers who feel the same way.The ledge under the wheel is a good spot to rest your foot and you can still drive with your hands no problem . ( when raised )
Word of advise just what ever you do remember your ( and mommas ) feet will cattch the corners of the console so radius the corners or tone down what ever you add so you do not jam a toe. ( Believe me ! )
Good luck !!

If you have access to a digital camera, I'ld appreciate a picture of what you did with the console on your 15.
