I would like to get rid of my crappy plastic Honda single lever throttle/shift binnicle mount control. The unit has trim/tilt built into the handle, but this seems to be the only wiring that ties back into the wiring harness from the motor. I would like to use a single lever Morse control instead. I could use normal two position rocker switch for the trim and tilt and just mount it to the console. My question is/are has anyone attempted this before? What would I need adapt the cables? Thanks |

Dan Either an on/off/on rocker or toggle switch will work for the trim. Dick |

Dan, I am about to install a Morse MT-3 control for my Suzuki. If you are looking for a good price, check out surplusunlimited.com, they have the best prices by far. Honda may have a trim switch that will look nice with your existing ignition and kill switch, I plan on using the one from Suzuki: http://www.suzukimarine.com/accessories/images/2004_miscellaneous.pdf I think that I will mount the switch immediately above the control. I tend to keep my hand rested on the base of the control and I think it will be easy to slide my hand forward and adjust the trim with my finger tip. Or - I may put the switch to the left of the control, so I can work it with my thumb. I may mount them both on a piece of teak so they look more unified. Dick - are you sure that the 3300 cables will work with the MT-3 control and a 2003 Suzuki DF140? I have been unable to find this information on the web. Todd |

Todd The Morse, now Teleflex/Morse, MT-3 does use the 3300 series cables. They have 10-32 UNF threads at both ends As far as I know all outboards except Mercury, Mariner, Johnson, Evinrude and late model Force use the 3300 series cables. Dick |
