Has anyone made this mod? I've thought about converting my 1969 Katama to a center console. (I'd possibly trade my Katama console) Throwing purity out the window, I'd like to keep the blue interior but would install a later model console. The thought of a beautifully restored or newly built authentic wood console surely appeals to the classic senses but the reality is I would never have the time to keep up with the maintenance. Any thoughts? Thanks for any input or comments.

Hi, Semper.

Check out Jazz/Bugsy's Madetauk in the Braggin Board on WhalerForum.

That is one beautiful custom conversion.

If you were going to go with a glass console I would suggest using a newer montauk console in white vs. desert tan. I think the white goes better with the blue and would closely match the white exterior color of your hull. Maybe Whaler has some discounted since they do not use them anymore.

I'm certain Tully Mars will join this thread as soon as he sees it, because he's got a sharp-looking 16'7" blue with a Montauk console. I took some pics of his boat a few months ago, and they are still online at...

I have exactly what you'r looking for. It is a classic blue liner with a BW glass c-console, rails and the teak back BW RPS. All items original BW just matched to older hull. Also has pate 24 gal. under seat and dual batts. in c-console.

Boat also happens to be F/S, although no hurry, kinda like having two but hard to justify to Mrs..

If any interested in seeing pics. I will be glad to send out.

Mike,

I couldn't find "Whaler_Rendezvous" on your super 8 site. I'd love to see the pics of Tully's Whaler.
