The two smaller hatches on my 25 OR full transom are missing the hatch liners. I've called Whaler but they don't make them anymore. Any suggestions for an alternate source? Also, any ideas where I could get a liner for the fire extinguisher mounting access on the side of console? The teak frame is still there but the previous owner replaced the liner with a flat piece of wood. Thanks, Dan |

Dan, There were two types of Fire Extinguisher "Pockets". One was made out of Teak plywood and the other was Plastic. Both Pockets had Teak frames. The Teak pockets and frame assembly can be order from Cedar Lake Manufacturing for about $140. Plastic Pockets are available in White or Black. The original color was closer to Desert Tan.. I have used the White pockets before and they look fine in the boat as the Teak frame and the Fire Extinguisher hide the majority of the white color. Plus the pocket gets dirty inside anyway. Saling Specialties Web site is now unfortunately under construction. I purchased these plastic boxes through Boatersworld for $21.00 and then made my own Teak frame. Looks almost like the original. Also, see these thread. The last post by billh comments on the Fire Extinguisher pocket. It should be easy to fit your frame to one of the plastic pockets.. Joe |

Dan - having bougth my 25 full transom boat new, I can give it to you on good faith that the teak covered corner hatches never had drop-in wells in them. They are only for access to the battery and oil tank in each corner of the splashwell. |

Thanks for the quick replies, Joe and Larry! I'll follow up on the fire extinguisher pockets. And I appreciate the feedback on the transom hatches. Dan |

Larry, I'm surprised there wasn't an option for a bait-well under one of those hatches. On my 18 (1985), the port corner hatch has a plumbed bait-well made into the mold. Maybe Whaler discontinued this option by 1989. If the 18 had it available, I would think the 25 certainly would. I'm going to check it out on the Catalog Disk because now I'm curious what the original cost was. |

Jim - the full transom 18 was designed only for one engine, either Sea Drive or Gil bracketed, hence the well. The 20-25 WD's were designed for twin engines, so no lift out hatch could be used. |
