Popped out the high speed jets and found they had a smooth tan/brown coating that you could easily scratch off with a fingernail. (1999 Merc 60/2)

Is this the dreaded 'varnish' and should I take apart the carbs, clean, rebuild? She does hesitate for 1 sec upon applying WOT.

Also took out spark plug and peered inside. Appeared brown with a glazed look. Should this be shiny....do I need to perform a heavy duty decarbonization as seen in prior threads?

thanks, don
