I have removed the Attwood scuppers on my '95 17 Outrage and found that they were allowing water into the transom foam. There seems to be no mechanical connection between the outer threaded scupper and the mushroom fitting on the inside of the transom. It appears that the Attwood scupper is too short for the 4 1/2" thick transom and it was "rigged". Is this the factory installation or a previous owner add-on? Is there a proper scupper on the market? |

Sailorson- that has to be something the latter ownner did-First your going to need to evaluate the damage to the transom then you will need to install some tubes through the holes and fiberglass or seal them in with 5200 then get the scuppers that simply mount flush to the outside of the transom. On my outrage the holes are fiberglassed all the way through I think the holes are 3/4" and then I mounted the scuppers that are coned shaped with the ball inside (I don't care too much for the ones with flappers) I'll snap a copule of pics to show you what I'm talking about.they are the last three on the list http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/overbrookfishing/album?.dir=/ca17 |

Overbrook, Thanks for your reply. My scuppers are the 2" diameter type. There is no glass on the inside of the hole in the transom. It looks as though it came from the factory with some type of manufactured scupper... I just don't know if the Attwood is factory original. Dan |

Question here, Can I mount this ball scupper on a Montauk stern/transom drain tube? There is only one, and it is well below the water line when not underway. It would be perfect if I could get it to self bail. |
