I am starting a search for a kicker for my 79 montauk. Will be used for trolling and emergency. What are the thoughts on the min and max hp I should be looking for?

Thanks,

Hutch

There's a bunch of info on the board about putting a kicker on a montauk...there was one just last week if I'm not mistaken..do a quick search and you'll find all you need to know about them...

Good luck...

Slippery:

I just tried out today my new Johnson 6 hp 4-stroke. Worked like a charm. Pushed the boat without a problem with a full tank and my wife on board. The recommended
HP is between 6 & 8, with some people putting on a 5 and even going to 15.

Frankly I was quite satisfied today with the results which I thank the people on this forum for, best info avl.....

Fred
