I have been using the 12 gal. metal tanks that came with my Montauk when I purchased it and of them is definitley shot (the other ain't too hot either). I like having the two tanks and am looking for a plastic replacement.

I did a search here and alot of the threads mentioned modifications that several companies were proposing for a more RPS friendly tank. Does anyone have the latest on suggestions for twin 12 gal tanks for placement under the Montauk RPS.

Thanks,

Pat

After reading a few more posts, I noted that one of the potential problems with the Tempo tanks is the cap.

I found the "Lower Height Fuel Cap" on the Tempo Site (part #06100, Model# 100CDS). The Tempo site now puts the dimensions of the Ultra PBW (with lower cap)at:
- 12 Gals.
- 14 1/4'' W
- 13 3/4'' H
- 20 3/8'' L

Should two of these fit under my 1981 Montauk RPS in the original mats?

Is this the same as the 13 Gal tank I saw noted in a number of threads that is for sale for $39.99 at Bass Pro (with the exception of the cap)?

I will not be at my boat for another couple weeks, so any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks again,

Pat

Pat,

The 13 Gallon Tempo at Bass Pro for $39.95 is the Tank to get...
Yes... They fit in the mats almost just like the originals... All you need is the low profile caps unless they are already included with the newer version of this tank...

I installed a pair on a friend of mines 1977 Montauk... His seat was raised 1" already so there wasn't any problem... You may or may not have to raise your seat with risers... Some say yes... Some say no... Whatever... If you have to raise the seat, I think it is a much improved modification... I raised the seat in my Outrage 2" and I don't have any fuel tanks underneath... The seat is a much more comfortable height...

Thanks.

I spoke with both Tempo and Basspro. Tempo is currently in the process or rolling out the tanks with the new caps. The new boxes will be marked with a Yellow Sticker noting "New Cap". Right now, Bass Pro sill had the old style caps on the tanks in stock.

As I still have one useable tank, I guess I will wait untill I find the new model tank.

At a cost of $100 + fittings, I would go for the single Tempo 28 gallon tank.
