[The author invites anecdotal information and general discussion of c.1996 Evinrude 115-HP engines which he describes as "fuel injected".]

No such thing as a fuel injected 1996 115 HP Evinrude. There is a primer system that does inject fuel for cold starting but don't be fooled into thinking that is a fuel injection system in the ordinary understanding. The induction system uses carburetors.

These are generally strong engines with lots of torque.

I've one on the back of my Montauk right now. Love it.

It is carb motor, I've never seen a fuel injected 1996 model 115.

cdow may be mistaking the oil injection system for a fuel injected system. Most people are very happy with these engines however I have not had good luck. If you do purchase this engine I reccomend bypassing the oil injection system and mixing your oil. I have had 2 of these injection systems fail and cause my engines to seize. Best of luck

Didn't Johnson come out with a FICHT engine in 1996 or 1997, then the Ficht went to Evinrude?

The "primer system" mentioned above is an enriching valve. It is found on most late model outboards. It is an electronic choking system for cold starting engines triggered by the ignition switch. It replaces the old manual choking system. Also very unlikely that motor is a Ficht. The first direct injection Fichts were 150-HP. I am almost positive it is carbed.
