I am looking at a 1983 11' Standard whick has seen alot of time in the sun and water. There are numerous spider cracks, but what concerned me were cracks along the transom where it met the rear seat/platform. The cracking was more pronounced on the starboard side, but the gelcoat was actually starting to curl along the inside curve like little potato chips. None of it would peel off with light finger pressere, and there were no soft spots I could find anywhere.
There was an area near the starboard stern side whick was bowed outward (bubble), but sounded and felt solid.
There is some blistering under the starboard bow with about 8-10 nickel sized spots.
Is this a can of worms waiting to be opened, or just cosmetics? I'll probable Rhino-Liner the interior anyway.
I shook the motor, and the transom seemed solid.
I know the little Whalers are usually way overbuilt anyway.
For a little play around project, what do you think?
