  How much to repair a small gouge/chip

I have a small gouge/chip in the bottom of my boat back by the transom (maybe the size of a nickel) that looks like it might have been made by a fork-lift or a slight grounding. I have never worked with fiberglass and, rather than mucking things up, have looked into getting it repaired by a guy my marina suggests. His price is $250 for the repair (also includes repair of a slight scratch on the side in the gelcoat). Is this reasonable? Is this an easy repair? Should I just roll-up my sleeves and do it myself (only problem being I do not have much time between work and family).
