Hi all,
I just changed the water pump assy. on my 1969 Johnson 20HP, and the impeller skweeks pretty bad. I haven't yet started the motor. This is my first impeller change, so I have a few questions before I do so. First, I believe that I am the first to change the water pump assy. When I cracked it open, there appeared to be some sort of silicon lubricant inside with the impeller. I asked the guy at the Johnson dealership and though he never gave me a definate answer, he gave the impression that I was not supposed to lubricate the insode of the housing, nor can I find it in my manuals. Is this normal? I understand that it will rub off and quit skweeking with use, but not sure if it's supposed too. Second, there were no gaskets in the replacement kit, should I have any. Mainly I am wondering about under the housing plate.

Thanks,
Ryan
