I am in the process of applying Micron Extra (Black)by Interlux to my 1988 Newport CC (Newtauk}. I previously painted it last year with one coat of West marine PCA blue made by Interlux.

I prefer the blue color as it compliments the Bimini and accents the red BOSTON WHALER graphics, but as the black wears away I will know when to repaint when the blue shows though.

My boat is in slip and the little paint that is exposed at the water line degrades to a different shade anyways.

I sanded with 120 grit and cleaned with Interlux 216 (Xylene). Today was breezy and the temp was about 63 degrees F.

I have one coat on the boat and I am very happy with the quality of the product. Interlux's customer service was very helpful. I puchased a gallon on sale for $159.00 at my local dealer. Interlux assurred me that the gallon can be reused for several years provided it is sealed and stored properly.

Just wanted to pass along my good experience with applying this product.

I've had similar good results with Micron Extra, and have stored it and reused for touch up more than a year after opening the can. It worked just fine after stirring up all the solids. You'll like the black much better, it doesn't discolor nearly as much as the blue. I used the blue on my Montauk and it was several shades of green in just a few months.

Greenish is what the blue looked like around the waterline.
