After spending a great deal of time and effort with this project, I thought posting the end process may prove helpful to someone out there in CW land.
My boat is a 1992 Outrage 19 II.
I chose the T8 with power tilt and remote.
When reviewing all of the installation information entered by various members of CW, I found that all were done on full notched transoms, but the overall information did prove very helpful. I spent some time getting all of the parts as I wanted a dual binnacle and dual key switches (I found them on Ebay- New).
The main problem I ran into was the steering. The EZ steering was not to my liking as I didn't like the fact of having to lean over the engines to disconnect them when needed. The Panther Marine steering arm did not reach because the bracket placed the engine too far behind the transom, as required for the engine to tilt all the way upright.
I had a friend down from up North who is a Whaler Fanantic and does rigging as a profession. His thoughts were to install the remote steering system noted on the photos.
Actually, after discussing my planned rigging, my friend decided that he could not stand by and have me try to do it myslef. So, he borrowed another friend's truck and drove my boat up to his shop (6 + hours) and completed all of the rigging.
The bracket is made of 3/8" stainless and polished inside and out. I have found that the remote steering works very well and I am beyond pleased with it. Although I have had a few people trying to get my attention to see who is steering the boat while I am running into the harbor seated on the stearn seat. The dual binnacle fit, like a glove, without a mm to spare.
If anyone has any specific questions, I will try to answer them or if anyone needs a great person to work on their boat in the Oakland area, just respond to this. I will do my best to be of help.
