The original American Chain Steering rotary helm started to get pretty sloppy a few years back and I decided to replace it with a hydraulic system after running my son's Dauntless but couldn't find a rear mount that would work through the 2 inch thickness of the console and the front mount units stuck out too far so I put in a NFB cable system and did not like it at all. Last year I found a round bezel kit (HA-5417) that allows a standard front mount helm to be mounted and protrude 3-3/4" total from the front of the console which is within an 1/8" of what the original one did. Got the bezel kit for $87.95 at Surplus Unlimited. It does require drilling a 4-3/8" hole to mount it but it fits and the hydraulic helm gives a lot more room under the console than the old rotary did.
I put a couple of pictures of it, a wood locating diagran and the original packing list here.
