I need to find a mentor to help me with my graduation project.
I have a 13' whaler that needs repaired. It has holes on the deck, possibly water logged. I would like to refurbish it to new condition. I do not have a lot of experience at doing this. Perhaps I could use this forum as a mentor. Any ideas?

First Welcome. The forum has lots of information both in old posts and in the reference section. Start by reading what has been written before and then decide how far you want to take your project. Do you want a servicable boat in the end or a boat that is in showroom condition. Those are two very different things. Once you have decided which direction you want to go in, be sure to take pictures as she is now and then ask specific questions of members. One question I would ask is why do you think she is waterlogged? The only way to determin if a hull is waterlogged is to weigh the bare hull and then compare with listed weights from the reference section. Be warned though that weights for lots of boats can be off by several hundred pounds so even this method isn't without error.

As for finding a mentor here on the forum, you may look for someone closer that can help you with day to day questions and use the forum for information about Whalers and their construction which presents some unique challenges.

Best of Luck.
