Just sand the hairline crack out. Its only in the gelcoat anyway, and will disapear with sanding. I assume your going to sand the hull anyway, so just fill any holes with Marine-tex, sand the entire hull, prime with Awlgrip 545 primer, fill any imperfection that you still see, and prime again. I used their high build primer, and didn`t like it as it is thicker and seems softer, and the paint had more of a tendency to chip over the years. If you type in Awlgrip on E-Bay, you will find an aution for a VCR tape, "Brushing with Awlgrip". I have one. It looks real simple, but I have never tried it. Spraying is faster. I haven`t tried Perfection YET, but I think its less costly.I`m about ready to spray a 17 foot Bass boat , but it looks like these hurricanes might get in the way again. Its going to be a long summer. |
