posted 04-09-2006 10:33 AM ET (US) I have a 71 Nauset and the steering has been sticky for quite some time. I took off the steering control in the console today and discovered that I have a "Steermaster Mark 2" system. How would I go about getting replacement cables for this setup? I doubt very much that Steermaster is still around. Would a Teleflex cable fit? What have others with similar classics done?
Thanks

The ACCO Steermaster II steering system is obsolete. Your best bet will be to replace the entire system with a Teleflex SS132 NFB helm and cable kit.

Dick,
Thanks for the response. Do you have any experience with this conversion? Trying to figure out how everything mates up from the console end and also hoop-up on the transom.
Has anyone done this before? Are there ways to take out the current cable from the sleeve and clean it up and re-use it?
