Hoping someone can help with 704 controller documentation.

My 1999 Yamaha 704 controller lacks a positive feel for “neutral detent” when shifting out of gear. Occasional causes me to overshoot neutral and into reverse.

So far I simply removed the cover and a small upper side plate, but discovered limited access to the throttle mechanism-sled. I’ll need to further disassemble to find the gearing mechanisms.

The next service phase will be more involved, likely a full removal of the unit, and I wish I had some documentation to reference. Unfortunately, when I purchased the boat last summer, no documentation on the controller. And the OEM service manual has no info on servicing the controller.

Can anyone advise or perhaps even post service / install / setup documentation for the Yamaha 704 binnacle controller?
