While underway the hydraulic steering turns effortlessly to the right but trying to make a left turn has alot of resistance. The boat turns easily in either direction below 5 MPH. Should I try making a minor adjustment to the trim tab located on the outboard and if so...which direction should I turn it?

Yes, you should adjust your tim tab. The hydraulic steering should offer the same resistance when turning either direction.
If the steering is easier to starboard, then move the tailing edge of the trim tab to starboard as well.
Adjust the trim tab, test it the boat and readjust if necessary.
