I painted my new transducer on my new montauk last october with transducer paint. My boat was in salt water for 3 months last winter. Should I apply another coat of paint before it goes in salt water for another 3 months this winter. I don,t want to put too much paint on it if this is not necessary.

I paint my transducer with transducer paint every time I take the boat out of the water. After three years, everything still works fine and there is no buildup of paint.
The transducer paint that I have really isn't paint, but a thin spray on substance that is supposed to repell marine growth. I don't believe there is any kind of build up and the substance wears off between applications. It doesn't appear to last nearly as long as regular bottom paint, hence the need for frequent applications.
I also use the transducer paint on stainless steel and other areas that regular bottom paint will not adhear to. I believe it reduces fouling in those areas and does not appear to harm anything.
Transducers are plastic and regular bottom paint breaks down plastic, hence the need for transducer paint.
