I replaced the anchor hatch on my 1997 Montauk this weekend. The fiberglass seam on the bottom was split and the entire hatch was flexing under my weight.

During the transfer of my hardware I discovered that none of the hatch hardware was bedded originally. This allowed waster to infiltrate the core, especially in the area of the ring pull which is recessed. The core has rotted and expanced, cracking the hatch in several places.

I suggest that everyone inspect their hatch hardware and re-bed as necessary. I used 5200. The new hatch was a great improvement.
