I was fixing little loose things on my 2000 23' Outrage. I went to re-caulk the cupholders at the bow seating area. Came across what I would consider some pretty serious wood rot (very wet) underneath the cupholders. Each of them had a section about 1" by 1/2" or so, +/- that was clearly wet and rotted.

I wasn't sure what the best thing to do was, so I cleaned out as much as I could and I put in globs and globs of 5200 to fill the void and seal it further. Is this a problem? What is the correct fix? It's not on a section of the boat that I would consider structural.

Now, this little incident also has me thinking. My boat's drain plug fits into a plastic (or whatever that nylon material is called). That little fitting that the drain plug fits into was loose yesterday when I put the boat on the trailer. There are no screws in that fitting, and frankly, I have no idea how I would even access it.

Given the fact that it's a Boston Whaler, how worried should I be? Any suggestions?

Man, I am really, really depressed about this.
