is the vertical crack near the fuel filler? Sounds like water was forced into a crack while you were underway (whether caused by impact or something else) and opened the chine up as the pressure forced water out.
My suggestion for repair would be open the crack up, let the moisture forced in dry, and then repair as shown in the reference section. There is a good narrative on fixing a chine there.
If the original crack was near the fuel filler (which happened on some older 25s) there is a "patch" method you can get details on from whaler. Basically it amounts to several layers of glass added in increasing widths over the crack, then re faired into the hull.
