posted 07-17-2007 01:28 PM ET (US)         I have the above engine on a 1985 Montauk--while in lake George Fl, I ran into some weeds blocking the water intake and engine overheated and shut down---after clearing away the grass blocking the intake, the engine ran fine--Every start up after that bright, white smoke poured from the exhaust for about 1 minute-then stopped and boat ran fine--I feared a leaking head gasket or warpped head---I took it to the dealer and they can find nothing wrong--perfect compression---no sign of leaking head gasket---motor runs and sounds as it should--no water in oil--they can't explain the smoking on initial startup---doesn't smoke at other startups or while running---any ideas?
