My 2000 Optimax 225HP surges to around 3,000 rpms after starting from cold. It returns back to normal idle speed, after a few seconds.
After the first time, it will re-start OK, run OK at cruising speed, but the idle operation is rough, sometimes stalling at idle.
Replaced the "tracker valve" and corrected the starting problem for around 15 hours, but now it came back.
Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem with idle operation on my 1999 225 opti. Stalling at idle but running fine at cruising speed. I changed the internal fuel filter and the racor and that cleared everything up. I did not have the surging issue that you described though. If you haven't changed them you might want to give them a try. Hope this helps.

Sean, I recently did the 500 hours service, that included replacing the fuel filter/water separator.
