My fuel tank is leaking out the tank level sender cap. The float had hung up and while freeing it up and reinstalling, I stripped out one hole.
The tank has gas in it so re drilling and tapping are not an option. I've tightened the adjoining screws as much as I dare. All I can think of is to clean up the cap and screw heads as best I could and cover the area with a sealant.
My question is there something that is resilient to gasoline. I'd rather use something that can be scraped off if the repair doesn't work.
Any suggestions?
Matt

Replace the stripped screw with a SS machine screw and nut until you can repair the stripped hole properly. Make sure your gasket is OK.

Mark the tank with a magic marker so you, or the next owner, knows there is a machine screw in that hole.

Use some pipe dope compound that is gasoline resistant. If the hardware store does not have it, your local oil distributor should. John
