I received a pdf file from Sue Lodel today for my 1988 Outrage 20 and realized the bow eye comes with two spacers. My two spacers were BOTH underneath the bolt and lifting eye on the interior of the boat. I started to wonder if perhaps ONE of them should have been on the inside and the other might have been intended for the outside.

The boat came to me with both on the inside - double thickness, with none on the outside - but it sure makes more sense to me that one should be on the outside and one on the inside as the outside one would help spread the force of the interior lifting eye over more area.

Does anyone know if one of those two spacers is supposed to be on the exterior of the bow eye ?

Does the bow eye have some tits/dimples on it? If so both go inside, use some 5200 to seal up the hole and around the eye, spray the inside with some type of grease covering (protect from rust)...good luck

His bow eye is the type that is basically a large U-bolt, with two nuts on the inside same as my 20' Revenge, which by the way also has two backing plates on the inside and none on the outside....Jack
