I'm overdue for my dumb question. In preparing the hardware [on a 1978 Boston Whaler MONTAUK 17] for re-plating, the red-green lens within the lamp dome cracked. (It must have been the extra effort to gently displace it). Are these lenses still available? And for that matter, should I opt to replace the lamp apparatus within the dome, would that be available? Any ideas re: OEM vs aftermarket would be greatly appreciated!

My understanding is that the combined sidelight lamp and bow chock fitting was unique with Boston Whaler. That fitting is now being made again, and is available through your Boston Whaler dealer. I do not believe that individual components of the lamp are available. If the red-green lens can be repaired, I would suggest trying to glue it back together using a modern super-glue. You may be able to fashion a replacement for the electric incandescent bulb holder from off-the-shelf replacement parts. |

Thanks Jim, I made a strong effort to keep lens in relatively good shape and I am sure that it will work out. Current lamp apparatus may be a modified Atwood. Again, I appreciate the reply. |
