I'm having trouble with the plugs fouling on a Yamaha 150-HP. The last two trips [on my 1992 Outrage 19 II] the Yamaha 150-HP motor has started fine at the ramp, but, after an hour of so of cruising, has refused to start. Or it starts and dies. After replacing the plugs, it runs fine until the next time I try running it at the lake. Having been towed back to the ramp twice I'm in need of a fix.

[The problem with difficulty in starting the Yamaha 150-HP motor] seems to have started when I began using synthetic oil. Do you think the new oil has ruined the pump? If [the oil pump is ruined] how much will it cost to replace? Thanks.
Jock

To test if the synthetic oil is causing the problem, switch back to the YamaLube oil recommended for your motor.

Jim,
That would be great if it worked.
I took it to the local Marina here in Tucson and was told that when the Pumps in the Yamaha motors go bad they pump an excessive amount of oil so the motor does not sustain any damage.
It does not look like switching back would do the trick once the pump has been damaged by the synthetic oil.
I'm hoping to hear back from the marina by Tuesday with good news about the repair.
