On my 73 16 when I get in to heavy chop the forward anchor box cover pops off. Has anyone made a modification to stop this from happening. I was originally thinking that I would install hinges but the wood diagram shows no wood to sink screws in to. Then I thought maybe some velcro but I think it would be hard to get the latch off. I also have some earthquake hold latches and straps that are secured with double sided tape but I am not sure of thier ability to hold up long term.

Some people use a bungie cord, screw a small u shape eyelet to the bottom of the board and one to the inside of the anchor locker, now a short piece of the cord tied to both ends, Has also seen a hasp put on each side of the anchor locker screw into the fiberglass. I do not have anything on mine, if it is to ruff I leave it off until we get to port, The amount of times it happens is not worth it to me to screw something into the boat...To each their own |

The small bungie w/ hooks AND strips of hook and loop (Velcro) work very well. That's how my anchor locker cover is held in place on my 13' Never pops off or out of place. |
