After months of contemplation, and a visit to High and Dry Boatworks, I decided to cut the floor of the 1988 Sport 15 today. It went very well, and after cutting through two 1-inch X 1-inch mahogany floor supports, port to starboard, I have a rigging tunnel. When the original deck strip is replaced I will have a 2-1/2-inch rigging tunnel. High and Dry Boatworks will seal it, replace the deck strip, and dry it in. I will then do any finish grinding, sanding and apply gelcoat for final finish to the deck.I gave serious thought to drilling through the transom drain 52-inches or so, up under the new center console. After today's work, I think I would definitely do it again, solely for the purpose of sealing the exposed foam. Bends to the steering cable seem tight but these guys have done it before. Every other cable should [unclear] perfectly. Attempted to shallow trough as I advanced forward but water is now going to enter the tunnel. Planing and jacking while stowed should prove more than sufficient. Took some decent photos along the way, but can [have not made them publicly available on the internet]. Hoping to have it complete for [April] Cobia season, May Tarpun season, or third week of July Tom's River, New Jersy Reunion. Looking to test it out in Barnegat Bay.
