I'm restoring a 1971 13-footer. I have purchased the three-piece rubrail kit. I'm looking for suggestions on how to fit the [combined sidelight lamp] over the new rubrail. As it stands right now there is not enough lip clearance to cover the rubrail with my lamp because of the thickness of the new rubrail. Should I cut the rubrail where it meets the lamp? Drill new holes to move he lamp forward? Or what? Thanks.

One adaptation which I believe has been used is to raise the combined sidelight lamp fitting with a baseplate to provide clearance so that it fits over the replacement rub rail.

This prior discussion on a similar topic has links to some images and good exposition on the method.
