Hi all -

Pulled floor out of the 90 Guardian 20 today; replacing hoses, wiring, etc. Hoses badly deteriorated, good thing to replace now.

Question though: water has been getting into the tank area and lays there, as there's no drain that I can find...IS THERE A DRAIN? I found 2 gas hose holes, I had planned to use one hose, and leave the other hole open so water could drain out of the gas tank area - thoughts anyone?

I found (4th photo) some pics of Jason Richer's...he did the same task: http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/centerDeckRepair.html

Here are pics of the 1990: http://s119.photobucket.com/albums/o147/cweigleatbellsouthdotnet/

Thanks, Mav

Thanks, Tom -

So the water lays there? I suppose not much will lay there, nor I suppose will it hurt anything...?

Is there a need then, for the floor caulking on its edges? Currently there are 2 gas line holes; I plan on plugging one nipple at round tank lid and running one line to motor; the other hole in fiberglass, then, would be open to right rear bilge (~12" square) access, allow water to drain out of tank area. Is that a good plan?

Would it hurt or be good for me to drill a hole from the tank area into the 12x12 bilge hole, and professionally install a brass drain? Seems like that would be a good thing.

Also, what is the T-Shaped channel for? In Jason Richer's photos and article in Cetacea:

....he mentions at one of the photos: "Fuel Line Fill and Vent Hoses, ....At the forward end of the fuel tank the large fuel filler hose and smaller tank vent line attach. The T-shaped channel molded into the hull is interesting. Its precise purpose has not been deduced. Also notice the small white drain linking the central cavity with this port side channel.

maverick i am doing the same on my 22outrage right now ripped the whole thing apart i found that the little white drains were clogged and the rigging tunnles full of ice the one near the gass tank drains into the gass tank cover than into the rigging tunnel to the back to the other white drain into the back live well also when i started taking out the foam around the tank whaler must of used white foam padding and wrapped the tank before using the foam my tank is 20years old and looks like brand new i will not reuse the tank having a new one made i will send you some pics later as i took pics of the dismantling

I put a 5/8 inch tube down the aft bulkhead to the low point of the compartment and ran it up and forward to an inspection cover where I can use a hand pump to pump out the water. It works well, no risk of explosion, and no holes cut in fiberglass or foam.
