I have a 1969 (per registration, 1964 per hull number research) 16' Currituk. The bench wood is in good shape but the rest of the plywood navigation station is pretty rotten. Any tips on what type of plywood the original wood is, versus what also might be a fair value replacement wood? I don't have $1000 to sink into mahogany plywood... Should I use oil based urethane to preserve it?

I've also considered splitting the bench and console into a bow rider type that would have a single seat on each side and walkway through the middle to be more functional. May be a poor idea, with the cabling passageway in the middle and all. I also considered some back to back seat behind the station with a single seat in wood in front of this split console.

Any tips, thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Jody

Look through this section of the site and you will find various configurations of the Classic 16/17 footer.
