The best kind of sander is one operated by someone else - but seriously I bought a Random orbit sander and it worked fine for removing 3 coats of bottom paint - not sure what size boat you're doing but I finished mine in two weekends |

If you can find a sander with a vacuum attachment; and use it; your life will be much better. They put most of the bottom paint into the bag, not on you and everything else. Either way, use a fan to blow the dust away from you while sanding. Suits and masks etc. There is another way of removing bottom paint, according to your needs. Let it wear off. Takes awhile, but you can get a lot of use from the boat during that time. One suggestion, please do not even think of doing this in your garage; you will live in that stuff forever. Good Luck! |
