[Asks if a bow mounted trolling motor can be installed on a Boston Whaler MONTAUK 17 without 'destroting" the bow railing.]

It can certainly be done. Use the search function and you'll have plenty of info. I have a 170 Montauk with a 55# Minn Kota on the bow. Works just fine and I didn't remove the rails.

It was no problem on my [1990] Montauk. I mounted it on the starboard side of the bow. It lays outside the railing and hangs slightly over the front of the boat. If you would like a picture I could e-mail it.

nauti tauk has a great set up. The 55 minn kota works well and will clear the bow rail by a few inches. His pictures were very helpful and was also able to email me with detailed directions on how he put the motor on the bow.
Thanks for all the HELP Nauti Tauk
