The bow eye on my 1980 Revenge 22 broke off.
How is the original seated in the bow? Did BW include a base plate or backing plate in the fiberglass hull? Does the bolt(?) simply screw into that baseplate? It looks like a bolt head is seated in the base of the original bow eye. Does one just turn off the old eye like a nut, chipping away the fiberlass around it? If BW used a locktite type product, won't the bolt twist off after 29 years?
(In the anchor locker there is another eye to secure the anchor rode--is this eye connected to the same bow eye rod or bolt or are they separate installations? It appears to be mounted somewhat higher than the bow eye, but it is difficult to measure this).
The original bow eye is cast metal. I'd think stainless steel would be a better choice.
