My [Yamaha 8-HP] kicker stopped pumping water. I had my mechanic friend put a new impeller in it. [The Yamaha 8-HP] pumped water and then would slow down as it was pumping sand. I was putting a paperclip in [the orifice of the aspirator outlet nozzle] to free the sand and that worked for a while. Now [the water flow] is down to a drip. So I don't have this problem anymore, what is the procedure to flush this motor out? Thanks in Advance

Try a longer piece of string trimmer line. You do not state the year of your motor but most Yamaha 8hp engines I have encountered have a very small diameter orifice directly under the powerhead (no hose). Freshwater flushing will not clear it but string line or small strands of copper wire will.

Thanks for the reply Brian, By stringer line do you mean weedeater line? The Yamaha is a 1996 I believe, how far do I need to push it up in there ? I was using a pretty long paperclip and I could only push it so far until I hit something solid. It is a very narrow hole.
Thanks again.

like brain said while running the motor in a tank, run a long weed-eater trim plastic line in to the pee hole. Turn it so that it will go as far as it will then pull it out. This will loosen up sand that is it there and help it come out. THen repeat over and over until cleared out. We are talking about as much as you can get in there 12 inches if you can.

Also try CLR in five gal bucket and run for 20 minutes with the leg in there.

Just because the telltale stream isn't fflowing, that doesn't mean it isn't pumping cooling water.

That said, weedeater line is the way to fix it. That or take off the hose and flush it out.
