This helped. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ Scupper.jpg
I just cut a circle out of an old green tupperware or rubbermaid lid and cut the center of it to have those 2 little ears that help hold the flap shut a little better. Didn't cost a penny. I've had them for about 5 years now.

[D]oes [the modification shown above] still allow water in? Does [the modification shown above] keep rain water in? [What happens] when [you] wash [the] boat?

[Adding the modification to the scuppers] helps to keep water from coming in the back and the water still flows out from rain or washing. It just makes the scupper flaps do their job better. Costs nothing.

I use two 1-5/8-inch rubber drain stoppers from Home Depot for $2-each. I place them in the scupper from inside the boat. I only use them in a calm area with no seas, and only with family that doesn't want wet feet. Good Luck Ken
