It sounds like you have two seperate problems. First, it sounds like you might have a fault in the alarm system. Jimh has posted a reference for what the various alarms mean, but as a generall rule, you can disconnect each sensor under the cowl (they are identified by a light brown wire) and see which one is causing the alarm to go off. While doing this, look for anywhere the alarm wire may be grounding to the block. After an overheat, this is possible as the extreme heat may have melted some insulation. If you find bare, wire, remove the section of wire and replace it. You may find that the wiring harness has a lot of damage. In that case, replace it with a new one from your local OMC parts retailer.

Your second problem is something to do with your shift linkage. This is common after removing the lower unit, which was done as part of the water pump replacement. If you paid a shop to do this, ask them to fix it, as it is their responsibility to properly assemble it. If you replaced the water pump yourself, inspect the shift linkage, all the way from the controls to the lower unit. Unfortunately, the problem is most likely to be on one end or the other of the shift shaft, which is difficult to access. If it's at the bottom, you will have to remove the lower unit.

Actually, I have to correct myself. You have three problems. The third seems to be your inability to type in complete sentences or spell entire words. For that, I recommend repeating the seventh grade.

Oh, I wish I'd come back to this thread in time to read his response before jim deleted it.

When I was 17, texting was still something that was done one-way via an operator, to a pager you wore on your belt. Only doctors or police officers carried those devices. Today, text messaging is commonplace. I, myself, am an avid texter. Unfortunately, however, despite full keyboard devices equipped with predictive text and spell checking, it seems as though today's youth is clinging to the older methods of abbreviating words and eliminating punctuation that we used years ago when you were charged by the character. Sadly, I think this is done out of sheer laziness, rather then efficiency. Even more depressing, it seems to be carrying over into other forms of communication.

I'm depressed that at the age of 30, I'm starting to sound like an old curmudgeon, but seriously; KIDS THESE DAYS!!!

I got a laugh from pglein's comments. I don't know if at age thirty I was quite so set in my ways. However, I can tell you that lousy writing that would get a FAILING mark in a Third-Grade composition class has no place here.
