How do you get that #@!*#% back bolt out?

You will need to either:

1) loosen the bolts and angle the motor out from the transom. You should have at least 1 helper to steady the engine, or;

2) Lift the engine off the transom. You can rent a hoist at a local rent-a-center for the day.

The engine needs to be supported such that you can remove the starboard clamp bracket. This is easier if the engine is mounted in second or third mounting holes.
But often it is just easier to remove the engine from the boat and work on it while hanging in a hoist. The trim unit is easier to work on when mounted in a bench vise.
