Author	Topic:   30hp Yamaha needs choke to run
pglein	posted 10-03-2009 03:25 PM ET (US)         Ok, I can't figure this out. I've got a 1999 30hp Yamaha 2 stroke, 3 cylinder outboard that will not idle without constantly engaging and disengaging the choke. It works great at all other RPM's. I'm trying to sell the boat, and not being able to idle the engine is really hurting my efforts. I've already replaced the spark plugs and rebuilt the carburetors. What else could be causing this?

merc125	posted 10-04-2009 05:51 AM ET (US)             Fuel, air, follow different paths at different throttle openings. Idle circuit blocked somewhere, mixture screws need adjustment,or replacement,possibly throttle plates not fully closed at idle.
