I'm working on my SONAR, but since the question has to do with mounting hardware rather than electronics, it seems appropriate to post it here. I've had two stern-mounted transducers for my SONAR give up the ghost. For the transducer that I just bought, I'd therefore like to rig up some kind of detachable mount [to] the transom so that I can remove the transducer and take it home between boating sessions. (The boat is in the water in a slip year-round.) I realize I'll also need to unplug the cable, but can handle this with an extension cable. I'm thinking through how to create the detachable mount. I will probably use screws to the transducer to a plate of delrin or similar material. The question is how to set up a way of quickly attaching and releasing this plate to and from the transom, keeping in mind that it will be below the waterline. Is there any particular hardware out there that would be a good way of accomplishing this? |

Frank: Aquaworld makes a transom mount detachable bait pump: http://www.aquaworld-products.com/pumps.html I have one of these and it is easily removeable, leaving only the transom mounted bracket. You might be able to modify this for your needs. |

Thanks, interesting idea. I actually have a transom-mounted baitwell pump in one of these brackets too, but didn't think of it since the shape of the detachable piece is specifically designed to receive a pump. But with a little Dremel'ing I can see that it could probably be adapted to a transducer. |

Frank, they sell the bracket itself for around $28.00. I'd be tempted to lop off the pump bracket, beef up the slider with some starboard, and mount the transducer to the starboard. |
