I finally got the old wood off my deck of my outrage and I am ready to replace and add fiberglass. Does any one know of a good supplier for marine grade plywood. I see that Home Depot sells it, but I am afraid the quality will not be there. Any suggestions?

Any good lumber yard in your area should be able to order this for you, thus saving you on some high freight charges.

If you strike out with the lumber yards (84 Lumber in my area was unhelpful) contact the lumber retailers who sell to wood hobbyists in your area. They will likely have experience in delivering hard-to-find items to their customers.

What you want is Douglas firm exterior. Marine grade and exterior grade us the same glue. Marine grade is Douglas fir wood. The difference is that marine has very little voids in the outer or inter layers.

Call local lumber yards for marine, and you will probably fine someone. Usually near larger city. Could be expensive.

I am not exactly sure of what you are replacing but why not use marine mahogany plywood? D. Fir marine grade is an excellent choice but to prevent checking you must apply marine epoxy base coats and fiberglass (we used to use 4 oz) cloth. You can figure out what true D Fir marine ply is but not sure in your area where you can get it. I'd be considering marine mahogany for my Whaler.

Good luck

acassidy has given you the correct info. Marine plywood is not needed. The plywood your removed is probably CDX construction plywood which was used be boat builders years ago and is junk when used in boats. Modern boat builders don`t use plywood at all in glass boats. They use structural foam boards which is indestructible.
