I just bought a 1963 Currituck 16. It has massive cracks all over it. How does one fix [massive cracks]? It also has a lot of holes on the deck from the old interior and other added junk that was removed and not pluged. I suspect it's waterlogged. If anyone out there can help I would be very greatful.

fiberglass,

Sounds like quite the project you are undertaking. I would start by looking here on the CW FAQ section where you could find different methods for removing water out of the hull and then use the "Search" area of the site to help you find articles on gel coat work and repairs. Many people have documented exactly how they performed their repairs with pictures and a list of materials needed.

Are you planning to do this restoration yourself or have it done by a shop? Either way, be prepared to get out the check book on this one.

Do you have any pictures of the boat you could load on here?

I did a 65 Nauset restoration. Re gel coated the entire hull, re did the wood, patched small holes in the blue deck. Also you will want to pull the brass drain tubes tip it and drain and dry it as much as possible. We even drilled some holes in the bottom to drain and used alcohol. You can only do soooo much though for water in foam. If you want contact me via email and I can tell you more of the story and send pics.

If your Boston Whaler Unibond hull has "massive cracks" they are probably serious structural flaws. Repair them according to the procedure described in

under the section "Structural Repairs."
